Christmas Eve (24 December)
5.00 The Children’s Crib Service
This is a big secret of Crofton Park – full of atmosphere. We hear the Christmas story told very simply with children participating.– and singing children’s carols we follow the shepherds to kneel and adore. Offerings in the manger help the world’s poorest people.
11.30pm – 12.45am 24-25 December
Midnight Mass, and Blessing of the Crib ie come on saturday evening 24th ( yes we have had people come at midnight on the 25th before)
For those used to the Christian Eucharist this is St Hilda’s offering us a taste of traditional mystery, with a deep sense of love through the lifting up of Christ’s sacrifice. Many candles increase the soul light, friends join with the regular congregation. A procession brings the image of the infant Christ to the Crib. Incense is used with ceremonial style worship.
Chritsmas Day (25 December)
11 am Christmas Morning Mass – children welcome
This is rather informal ‘day after the night before we offer the Eucharist to partake of God’s love- Often the address is for the children. We all sit in the chancel near the high altar – jolly carols like ‘The holly and the ivy’ are sung. We end with a trip to the crib for a short devotion
