Donations for Forest Hill foodbank welcome at all services – tinned foods, cereals, baby milk and nappies; long life milk and toiletries. Good gents coats and shoes also welcomed
Sunday 22nd December (4th Advent)
5pm Carol Service with Children’s Christingle
Join us to prepare to celebrate the love and mystery of Christmas – a Traditional Nine lessons Carol Service for adults and children together: Starting with ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ and ending with Christingle lights procession to celebrate the great reading from St John’s Gospel. Collection for the Children’s Society– all are invited to enjoy mulled wine and mince pies after.
Christmas Eve (Tues 24th December)
A fun and atmospheric re-telling of the Christmas story as we build a beautiful Crib at the front of the nave and make our journey to the manger.
11pm Midnight Mass and blessing of the crib
( nb starts 11pm ends c.12.30am Christmas morning)
St Hilda’s offering us a taste of traditional mystery, with a deep sense of love through the lifting up of Christ’s sacrifice. Candles increase the soul light, friends join with the regular congregation. A procession brings the image of the infant Christ to the Crib. Incense is used with ceremonial style worship.
Christmas Day (Weds 25th December)
11 am Sung Eucharist of Christmas Morning
and visit to the Crib – Children welcome
The address is geared to the needs of children. This is rather more informal day after the night before we offer the Eucharist to partake of God’s love- We sit in the chancel near the High Altar – jolly carols like ‘The holly and the ivy’ are sung. We end with a trip to the crib for a short devotion.
