Greener Church Project

Saint Hilda’s and CPCL recognise their responsibility in becoming actively involved in taking steps for improving the impact on the environment and the local community. We feel the duty to protect the most vulnerable members of our society: the oldest, the youngest, the least well off and the sick who will bear the burden of our changing climate.

Initiating energy efficient and eco-minded projects will ensure longevity of the Hall and the Church so that they are kept open and active for generations to come.

Greener Church Project: 2025 Energy Impact

Our focus on refurbishing the Church Hall begun in 2024 and carried on in 2025.

Complete projects includes the installation of:

– double glazing units and ceiling in the side room –  replacement of the emergency door – an insulated wooden floor – roof repairs – redecoration.

Thanks to improved insulation, we’ve seen a tangible reduction in our environmental footprint in 2025:

  • Gas: 29.5% reduction in usage (29% cost savings).
  • Electricity: 13% reduction in usage (despite a 28% increase in market costs).

We want to specifically thank our fundraising contributors, with special mention to

3rd Crofton Park Scouts southlondonscouts.org.uk/map/3rd-crofton-park-scout-group

The Redeemed Christian Church of Good RCCG

The Cottage Day Nursery cottageday.co.uk

for their generous support of specific projects.

LOOKING AHEAD (2026-2027)

Expect less disruption this coming year!

Aside from some attention needed for the Hall floor, our primary focus will shift to the Church itself as we work to install a more sustainable and effective heating system
