Announcement (September 2025)
We are delighted to announce the appointment of the Reverend Canon Julian Sampson as the new vicar of S. Hilda’s Crofton Park.
Canon Julian Sampson has worked in the Diocese of Birmingham for the last twenty years. He served as Chaplain to HMP Birmingham for seven years, before going on to serve in two inner city parishes. He is currently Vicar of All Saints Church in Small Heath. He is also Anglo-Catholic Lead on Interfaith Relations in the Diocese. He works alongside the Bishop of Birmingham’s Interfaith Advisor in supporting parishes to engage with friends and neighbours from other faiths. He is a member of the National Presence and Engagement Steering Group. He is passionate about community engagement and currently has oversight of a busy church centre that serves the needs of a culturally diverse inner-city area.
Father Julian was born in Devon. He studied Theology at St. David’s College Lampeter, followed by working at St. Margaret’s Church Centre in Thornbury, Bradford, before training for Ordination at St. Stephen’s House in Oxford. He was Ordained in London.
In his spare time, Father Julian enjoys spending time with his Staffordshire Bull Terrier, gardening, and tinkering with old clocks as well as travelling in Italy.
